            Ava started Districts off right with a win over Mountain Grove. Ava took a lead early, and with the help of Jorie Garrett Ava had a 12 point half time lead. Ava’s Payton Lakey and Abbie Lansdown ran into foul trouble in the late third quarter and early fourth quarter, so with two of Ava’s five starters on the bench, Grove cut the score to eight points in the fourth quarter. Jorie Garrett, though, had nine of her 32 points in the fourth quarter holding Gove off, and winning by the score of 65-56. Ava played Willow Springs in the Semi-Finals.

            Ava in the Semi-Finals lost toWillow. Ava came out strong matchingWillowbucket for bucket. The first quarter score was 8-8, but then Ava soon fell behind when two of Willows players outscored the whole Ava team in the second quarter. Ava went into half time down 22-13. Ava made a push late in the fourth quarter to cutWillow’s lead to six, butWillowheld on to win 50-41.

            Ava had another solid season this year. Preseason expectations were high for the Ava Lady Bears, and Ava had another productive year winning 19 games. Ava is graduating six seniors, but have some solid younger players to help them next year. It was an exciting season and anyone that was associated with the Ava Lady Bears season should be proud.
