The Bears Fight Against Isaac and the Wildcats

By: Kayla Casey and Kane Thompson
Before the game could even start, Hurricane Isaac made it a tough wet night. The team was not going to let it get to them either. They fought until the end of the game.
In the first quarter, the Bears were on a roll, getting two touchdowns by Kyle Clingkingbeard and Caleb Miles, ending the first quarter with a score of 14-0. The Wildcats continued to fight though. The Wildcats kept going in for the touchdown, but the Bears were there in time to stop it finishing the first half 14-0.
By the time half-time was over, the field was unplayable. Despite the ball being frequently dried off, there were many fumbles. With all the fumbles, the Wildcats finally had a good hold on the ball and scored a touchdown, but they missed their extra point ending the third quarter with a score of 14-6.
The fourth quarter was a fight in itself. The fumbles were just getting worse. Every other play seemed to turn up a fumble. With three minutes left in the game, the Wildcats got a fresh ball and ran for a touchdown. Chance Boyd played tough to block a two-point conversion. The Bears finally, soaking wet and muddy, won the game 14-12.

Bears line up against Aurora

“Well we did good enough to win. Obviously, we have some things we need to work on. It was a tough game; it was sloppy and it was hard to hold on to the ball. We came out of there with a win and I’m happy,” Coach Swofford said about the Bears’ performance.
The next game is at home against Mountain Grove. Come out and show your school spirit by supporting the Bears. “We have a big game Friday against Mountain Grove. I expect it to be a great atmosphere. Mountain Grove has a team that is playing good football this year. We expect them to come ready to play and have a great game,” Coach Swofford explained about the up-coming game.
