The band has had an eventful competition season, from marching in the blazing heat to waking up at horrendously early hours to go to competitions. Their first marching festival, Valhalla, was on October first in Springfield. At Valhalla, the band took fourth place in preliminaries and third in finals, and Maddie Curtis was awarded Outstanding Soloist. Valhalla was followed on the eighth by the US Bands Southwest Missouri Regional in Branson, at which the band took third in prelims and 13th in finals. On the 15th, at the Ozark Mountain Marching Festival in Reed Springs, our band took 4th in prelims but did not make it to finals. The band came away with considerable victories at all these competitions, but the best was their last. At the last marching competition, the Ava Pride Band made it to finals after taking third in prelims, and took third place under the director of Mr. and Mrs. Sacco. This year’s marching competitions were the last for seniors Maddie Barnes, Benen Canape, Ashton Stanton, Chris Gramling, Chloe McKee, Emily Bailey, Mikayla Blinn, Makayla Schmoll, Alivia Groth, and Alexis Beverlin.
