Do you ever wish that you could make a difference and better the lives of others? Well there’s a great way to do just that, and that’s by getting involved with the organization’s around you. Ava has many different styles of clubs that can fit a person’s interests which can vary from animals, to disaster aid, or even parental involvement around the school and the community.

There’s a number of different animal based organizations such as the Saddle Club, Bear Creek Rescue & Sanctuary, and the Ava FFA Booster Club. All of these are great ways to surround yourself with the animals you love and to put yourself out there with new people. The Saddle Club puts on shows and activities ranging from all different age groups. One of the great things about the Saddle club is you don’t even have to be from a private or public school like Victory Academy or Ava H, you can be homeschooled.

If you are interested in helping other people you may want to look into the Heart of the Hills Food Harvest, Douglas County Missouri Fire Chiefs Association, Good Hope Fire Department Inc, or the Douglas County Veterans Memorial Association. Dane Bovard a Senior at Ava High School has given us a look into how he got started and how it’s influenced his life, “I started volunteering around the age of sixteen due to a friend mentioning the organization to me. We change the lives of many people by responding to emergency calls, brush calls, and car wrecks. We take appropriate equipment to these calls and are properly trained in multiple procedures for emergency situations. The Good Hope Fire Department Inc has made me look at everyday life as a special gift and helped me further myself as a human.” There are just some of the many organizations that can help better someone’s life by supplying food, help, affection, and education.

Kids aren’t the only ones that can get involved, anyone can be involved in the many organizations provided around Ava.  The Ava Lions Club, Ava Bear Booster Club, Kiwanis Club of Ava, and the Ava Art Guild are all great opportunities that allow everyone to have a part in bettering their own or someone else’s future. The Ava Art Guild also allows kids and adults to display their pieces and get involved in a group that can get their art out into the world.

Let’s make this a great year and get involved in the various communities provided around Ava and spread the word far and wide to help get everyone involved. We can change the world one person at a time.
