The Rare Breeds Youth Outreach Center (RBYOC) of Springfield, Missouri is a branch from The Kitchen Inc., an organization built to help feed and house the hungry and homeless.  The RBYOC is aimed more towards the younger people in the Springfield area who are running away from destructive and abusive homes or have been kicked out of their homes and have nowhere to go. It helps those between the ages of thirteen and twenty years old. Rare Breeds provides a hot meal each night, clothing, different education courses and multiple other courses such as art and music classes. RBYOC is also responsible for helping those who are old enough find jobs and temporary or permanent housing. Although this youth center does all that they can to help these young people, they are not open through the night. This means that the youth have to leave at closing and find somewhere to stay for the long and now cold nights. During this time of giving, the Ava Echo crew will be running a clothing drive to help support those who are in need. Clothing and shoes in any size (including baby clothes) are needed for these struggling youths. Since the weather is beginning to get colder, it would be greatly appreciated if warm winter clothing and even blankets, gloves, winter hats and scarves are brought in. Please bring all donations to Mrs. Bassett’s room before November 24. If you have any questions please contact Kylie Smith at [email protected].
